Philanthropy and Service
At Phi Eta Sigma, we believe that student success and community service go hand in hand. That’s why we prioritize service and philanthropy in our local and national events. Our organization is made up of a diverse and dedicated group of students, all committed to making a tangible impact on the world around them. From our annual 5k for $10k to our voter registration drives and book drives, we’re always looking for ways to engage with the community and to promote the importance of literacy.
Book Drives and the Mary Jo Custer Philanthropy Competition
Our National Convention also serves as our annual book drive benefitting a local school or children's program in the area. Chapters compete in the Mary Jo Custer Philanthropy challenge to see who can collect the most children's books to donate each year. Through our book drives, we collect books that are then distributed to local schools or youth programs. . Our goal is to provide children the tools they need to succeed academically and socially, while fostering a love for learning.
5K for $10K
Phi Eta Sigma is an organization dedicated to the promotion of education and literacy in our community. We understand that the ability to read and learn is integral to success in our society. That is why we run an annual 5K for $10K Run for Reading to raise funds for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library each fall. Our mission is to build awareness of the importance of literacy and education in our community, which we believe will lead to a more informed and successful community overall.
