Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society is dedicated to elevating the college experience with honor while promoting personal development through our mission, vision, and values. We offer a wide range of opportunities for students to grow and expand their horizons. We’re proud to serve a diverse student population and believe in investing in our students' success both academically and personally.

OUr story
Phi Eta Sigma was founded on March 22, 1923, to encourage and reward high scholastic achievement among members of the freshman classes at the University of Illinois. Since that time we have grown to an organization with more than 1.3 million members and a 100-year history of elevating the college experience through involvement in the honor society.
With more than 175 active chapters across the nation, Phi Eta Sigma students are part of a thriving network of scholars that are committed to the ideals and values of Phi Eta Sigma. We believe in celebrating success; in creating opportunities for individual development; in cultivating a community; and in generating a culture of care.
Our Mascot
As part of our centennial celebration, Phi Eta Sigma adopted a lion as our mascot. A lion symbolizes power, wisdom, and integrity making it a perfect choice to represent the Society.

Our official masot, KIP - whose name is derivied from our motto, Knowledge is Power - made their debut at the 2023 National Convention.
