1.
Chapter adviser and chapter delegate support for Phi Eta Sigma national conventions has increased substantially during recent years. To address this interest, the Executive Committee has increased the number of Society-funded convention housing rooms (two persons per room, two beds) available for our attendees. To help offset this increased expense, the Executive Committee is asking the chapters to provide trans¬portation for all attendees (airfare, auto mileage, and taxi fare) from their campus to the host hotel site in Louisville. The Executive West Hotel is only one mile from the airport. Taxi from the airport to the hotel costs approximately $10.
2.
Every active chapter of Phi Eta Sigma has the option to send the official chapter adviser and one student delegate to the national convention with Executive West Hotel housing, meals, and scheduled entertainment paid by the national office. Chapters have the option to defray the expenses for alternate delegates to attend the convention for a registration fee of $210, which will include housing, meals, and entertainment. The contracted rooms, meals, and entertainment will be reserved for the combination of the first 240 advisers, delegates, and alternate delegates who apply no later than September 24, 2008. Please keep in mind that once we have assigned the contracted rooms, no additional attendees will be accepted. We will probably fill our rooms well prior to September 24, 2008.
3.
The convention hotel is the Executive West Hotel, 830 Phillips Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40209 – telephone 800-633-8723.
4.
Housing for two chapter advisers per room, registration fee, convention meals (Friday evening dinner, Saturday continental breakfast, luncheon and dinner, and Sunday breakfast buffet) will be provided by the national office. A personal credit card will be required by the Executive West Hotel during check-in for all attendees to cover incidental expenses such as telephone calls, room service, etc.

5.
In order for the Nominations Committee to begin Executive Committee candidate interviews on Friday evening and be able to enjoy the Saturday afternoon and evening off-site activities, it is necessary for all Executive Committee candidates to file their nomination forms with the national office by September 24. This is a major change in our convention logistics, but it is necessary if all attendees are to be given the opportunity to participate in our scheduled off-site activities. A nomination form is included with this convention mailing. The national office pays all expenses for Executive Committee members to attend the national convention and the spring or summer off-year meeting.
6.
If your chapter has T-shirts, brochures, newsletters, specially designed ceremony programs, posters, or any other items you would be willing to display, please bring them with you to the convention. We will reserve plenty of space in the Phi Eta Sigmahospitality center for chapter displays. Attendees will also want to share with others in attendance (as gifts) customized campus and chapter items (such as T-shirts, lanyards, pens and pencils, plastic cups, buttons, bumper stickers, magnets, etc.) during the ice cream social. So bring some items to display and to give to some of your new friends. Plan to share and plan to receive.
7.
Please try to arrive in Louisville during the afternoon of Friday, October 3. We want you to enjoy everything the national convention has to offer, and we especially want to enjoy your fellowship.
